Idaho Remains Not A Match To Susan Powell

Despite the hope of investigators, the body found in Ammon, Idaho did not match missing Utah woman Susan Powell. However, investigators say that the body was not that of Susan Powell, and also the West Valley, Utah, resident is nevertheless considered a missing person. The search for Susan Powell, funded with instant cash from family and friends, has slowed down given that she was reported missing in December of 2009.

Susan Powell disappears

In December of 2009, Susan Powell was reported missing. Susan is the mother of two young boys. The entire family was reported as missing on early Monday morning. On Monday afternoon, Josh Powell, Susan’s husband, returned to town with their two children. Josh Powell claims he had taken the two kids camping and Susan Powell had been left at home. When the children didn’t show up at daycare and neither Susan nor Josh reported to work, missing persons reports were filed. Susan Powell’s wallet, purse, cell phone and vehicle were all at the house.

Josh Powell named as ‘person of interest’ in Susan Powell disappearance

The West Valley police department has named Josh Powell, husband to Susan Powell, as a “person of interest” in the case. A rental auto under Josh Powell’s name, paid for with instant cash, had several hundred miles put on it the very same day Susan Powell disappeared. Since the disappearance of Susan Powell, Josh has moved with his kids to Washington state. Josh Powell has not been arrested for Susan Powell’s disappearance, and detectives say only that interviews with him left “more questions than answers”.

Body in Idaho does not match Susan Powell

Over the last weekend, a person looking for better cell phone reception near Ammon, Idaho, stumbled over a badly decomposed body. Investigators in Ammon contacted West Valley City police because Ammon, Idaho is within a day’s drive of West Valley City. However, both Idaho and Utah police have confirmed the remains aren’t Susan Powell. Confirming the identity of the body could take several weeks.
