Yahoo login goes down as business lets go seven hundred workers

Yahoo was down today for short bursts of time as the servers appeared to be overloaded. About five percent of Yahoo’s workforce is being laid off today. The login problems might or might not be connected to these staffing changes. Some are wondering if this is a mark of a downfall of the company. This layoff puts more individuals in the payday loans line. Article source – Yahoo login goes down as company lays off 700 employees by MoneyBlogNewz.

Yahoo login and Yahoo services down

Yahoo login was just not functioning based on many accounts on the web. Yahoo services such as Yahoo Mail, Yahoo Buzz and Yahoo News were not accepting user logins. Many outside email offerings documented problems as well. Evidently Yahoo Mail servers weren't working. All Yahoo services were intermittently working at 11:30 a.m. Pacific Time Tuesday.

Documented to be Yahoo layoffs

Monday night, the Brand new York Times documented that rumors were circulating about Yahoo layoffs. Many news sources confirmed the rumors on Tues. About 5 percent of the workforce could be laid off, which is from 600 to 700 people. Most of the layoffs can be in Yahoo’s products group, which controls Yahoo Email and other major Yahoo goods. The Yahoo product division head told department heads to prepare for up to 20 percent of their workforce to get let go a few days ago.

Buyout of Yahoo from AOL will not be occurring

The CEO position for Yahoo was taken in early 2009 by Carol Bartz. She has vigorously defended the business, insisting that the company is trying to develop more ways for “users to interact in social fashions.”. Previously, AOL was considering making a buyout offer for Yahoo. The offer was never officially made and is off the table. A combined AOL/Yahoo company would have been terrible for the workforce, as more people would have been laid off than are now. That means it was probably good for the Yahoo layoffs to occur along with the AOL offer being taken off the table.
