More than 2 million Microsoft Kinect sales in under a month

The Wii console is generally the first thing that comes to mind when people think of motion-controlled video games. However, with the recent release of the most-anticipated Microsoft Kinect motion-sensing video game program, it has not been that way lately. The Kinect console guarantees exciting new games with an enhanced improvement to the Xbox 360 gaming experience, and parent and kids alike are pouring into retailers hoping to get their hands on the new video game program.

Kinect sales hit 2.5 million, and still growing

Just 25 days after launching the Kinect, Monday, it was announced by Microsoft that over Black Friday, the company got to 2.5 million Kinects being sold. A total of 5 million is what the company plans on selling. This is just over the holidays.

“We are thrilled about the consumer reaction to Kinect,” Don Mattrick who is the president of the Interactive Entertainment Business at Microsoft explained, “and are working hard with our retail and manufacturing partners to expedite production and shipments of Kinect to restock shelves as fast as possible to keep up with demand.”

You are able to purchase the Kinect at 60,000 different stores. It is also in 38 different countries.

Microsoft Kinect – how it works

There is no need for hand controllers with the Microsoft Kinect. With the Kinect system, you can turn your Xbox 360 into a voice-activated console. The best part about this is that it does more than that. There is a lot it does. There is also facial recognition within the console. It also does video capturing. It can be used for everything from selecting favorite TV shows to creating digital artwork. Do you love the Xbox Live? Then there is a good chance the Kinect is for you. Using the cameras and microphones, you are able to have a webcam-like chat with multiple friends at once, enhancing the Xbox Live experience.

A ton of sells for Kinect when also good reviews coming out

The most-liked feature of Microsoft’s Kinect is that, unlike the Wii and PlayStation Move, it gets rid of the need for buttons altogether — your body is the controller. After seeing all the Kinect reviews and the sales associated with it, it makes perfect sense the next big thing in video games could be motion-sensing consoles.
