Facebook comments discover a bishop terminated

Inappropriate statements on Facebook have gotten a Church of England bishop terminated. A bishop within the Church of England, Broadbent, took to Facebook to declare his displeasure with the pending wedding of Prince William to Middleton. He is on indefinite suspension.

Finding bishop at noble wedding ceremony

Facebook remarks have gotten an Anglican bishop suspended. The Guardian reports that viewpoints on the pending royal marriage were published on Facebook by Rt. Rev. Broadbent who’s a bishop in the Church of England for the parish of Willesdon, which is a borough of outer London. He posted remarks reading that:

“We need a party in Calais for all good republicans who can’t stand the nauseating tosh (nonsense) that surrounds this event.”

He talked about other English noble family members marriage troubles like Prince Charles and Prince Andrews who have had divorces the media has been all over which is why he suggests the marriage would only last seven years. Sarah Ferguson is always within the headlines though. This brings back the divorces too. There had been lots of public backlash to the comments he made. He retracted them with an apology too.

Put on indefinite leave

An apology simply could not do, and the Bishop of London for the Church of England, the Rt. Rev. Richard Chartres, had to intervene. Broadbent was asked to "withdraw from the ministry until further notice" after his boss had just a little talk with him. There are no comments made by any of the noble family, Kate Middleton or Prince William.

A poor approach to phrase it

The BBC reports that some think the amount of media coverage over the even might have been why Broadbent made his comment. There are numerous times when celebrity events are blown way out of proportion. This has not stopped the noble wedding ceremony for being planned at Westminster Abbey. It could be in April 2011.
