BMW logo burned into the retinas of unsuspicious motion picture viewers

Bavarian Motor Works logo flash-projected onto eyelids of moviegoers

The BMW emblem made quite an impression in a marketing demonstration at a German movie theater not too long ago. The screening of a new Bavarian Motor Works advertisement featured a demonstration of flash projection technology. People of the viewers could see the Bavarian Motor Works emblem with their eyes closed after viewing the ad. Viewers members interviewed after the show were excited, however the stunt raises questions about whether the technique is safe, or even legal. Either way you know the business took out a huge paydayloans to have a thing like this completed.

Quick flash of BMW logo seen

There was an interesting scene with the BMW logo. No other logo has done that. Using a type of flash projection technology employed in digital cameras, advertising producers stamped an after-image of the BMW logo on the brains of unsuspecting viewers. The gimmick is based on how an image of the sun is imprinted on the retina after looking at it for an instant. It seems to be on the back of your eyelids when they’re closed for a moment. A studio flash unit called Profoto Pro-7B was used behind the screen at a German movie theater. There was then made a stencil of a BMW logo. It was in front of the flash as it went.

All about the BMW commercial

An ad for BMW motorcycles with the Superbike world champion Ruben Xaus in it was when the BMW logo was projected into people's retinas. Producers say the ad uses an after-image of the BMW brand to “literally get inside people’s heads.”. It is called a "harmless photo flash" though. Xaus says to the audience, "I am living my dream. ‘What dream?’ you ask. Just close your eyes and look deep inside yourself. Perhaps it is your dream too. It’s in you.” At this moment the BMW logo is projected at the audience. Then the audiences notices nothing unusual. It is just a flash. Xaus then says “Close your eyes and also you will see it.”

The response to the BMW logo flash from people

Although the subliminal advertising was being done on the audience, they were fascinated with it. The safety of the BMW logo being burned into retinas at films is questionable. Many wonder about it. There is a ton of light coming out from the Profoto Pro-7B flash although it only lasts from 1/3,000 to 1/400 of a second. Eyesight can be hurt when looking at the sun though. Even if it just for a second, the damage is still done. Also, seizures are caused by brief, bright flashes of light like that.
