While Google has a head start in the webmail client area with Gmail, Facebook thinks there is a Gmail killer that’s ready for the planet. This is Project Titan, writes TechCrunch. The full-featured webmail client will give Google some severe competition for market share within the webmail field.
News of the Gmail killer has circulated since Feb
Gizmodo explained that Project Titan is the name of Facebook's Gmail killer. Facebook's current messaging platform can be swapped out with this. Full POP and IMAP support will be given. Also, @faebook.com e-mail addresses will be given to all users. there could be message search capability from this platform. Also, anyone outside the Facebook network can get emails from those inside the Facebook network. Performing basic online tasks can be done on Facebook by users without going anywhere else. Considering that Facebook has upwards of 500 million active users (according to their Press Room), keeping everyone inside the borders of Facebook is a profitable proposition, indeed.
Project Titan can be a big change
TechCrunch explains what Project Titan really is. It won't be a simple upgrade to message services that already exist. It is a webmail client that is fully powered. However, it seems likely that there will be bugs at launch, as is the case with any new product. A "huge amount of potential" is seen by those looking into it though.
Online world all about Facebook
Everyone knows that Facebook dominates the social networking world. Also, it has a great micropayments system with the games along with events calendar products and photo storage products. Mark Zuckerberg and his company are likely to see a fight come from Google if the Gmail killer Project Titan really can cut into Gmail's webmail market share. It’s no wonder that Google got nasty with Facebook last week over freedom of contract data. They may be hearing a Gmail killer coming around the mountain.
