Will Droid Pro put Blackberries bankrupt

Motorola has announced the new Droid Pro, an Android phone built especially for business. With the operating system of a Droid, and the form and function of a Blackberry, the Droid Pro is making waves. Specifically intended for companies, Droid Pro has been called the “killer” of RIM’s enterprise prominence.

Capabilities that come with the Droid Pro

The Droid Pro by Motorola was declared as a part of a six-phone rollout by the manufacturer. The phone appears a lot like a Blackberry with the built-in keyboard and design that is portrait design. The Android operating system facilitates a 1 GHz processor, 512 MB of RAM and global roaming. The Droid Pro is really business friendly. Part of this is due to the full enterprise support that it has. Multi-VPN network support, complex passwords and on-board encryption are all built to the machine.

Blackberry path crossed with the new Droid Pro

Security has been the only reason why businesses and also the govt have stuck with Blackberry. The Canadian business that makes Blackberry devices, Research in Motion, is known for the encryption that cannot be cracked. The Blackberry has never died off because of that and its enterprise functions. The Droid Pro seems to have all these qualities though. RIM may have to think of something new.

Will Droid Pro substitute the Blackberry?

Many say the Droid Pro is a “kill shot” because so the majority are already switching from Blackberry to Android devices. This, nevertheless, most likely will not be the case. Though Android is a powerful operating system, and the Droid Pro has built-in security features that make it attractive to the business consumer, it may not match up. Blackberry is popular due to the RIM devices in it. Also, the Blackberry PlayBook is being released soon which should help while using competition.
