Toms Shoes: A Day Without Shoes for awareness

The one day event every year, A Day Without Shoes, was began by Toms Shoes, a California company.

A Day Without Shoes was began to help raise awareness of kids who don't have shoes or have access to shoes. The act that Tom Shoes encourages participants of A Day Without Shoes is just that – go a day without shoes, or even 10 minutes if you can – it won't expense instant money and is a simple thing to do.

Awareness raise by Tom Shoes

The Southern California Business, Tom Shoes, was founded in conjunction with a non-profit organization.

For every pair of shoes that Toms Shoes sells, they give an additional pair of shoes to a child in need – giving guaranteed loans of opportunity for the price of a pair of shoes. Since May 2006, when they were founded, the one-for-one program has given away over 600,000 pairs of shoes to children in need.

Those who usually wear shoes in America are asked by A Day Without Shoes so "Bare Your Sole" to help raise awareness. Most children in developing countries grow up barefoot.

If they didn't have shoes, children would suffer cuts, scrapes, infections, and a condition called Podoconiosis. Kids are also unable to attend school without shoes.

How do I get involved with A Day Without Shoes?

It is simple to get involved in a day without shoes. Start by making yourself go barefoot today. Whether you are just sitting at your desk in class or walking to work, just go without shoes.

See exactly what it is like to walk down the freezing cold sidewalk without protection on your feet. Get the experience of life without shoes. If you want to get really involved then you can register your shoelessness at www.onedaywithoutshoes.com. The hashtag #harwishoutshoes is exactly what is being used on twitter to track exactly what life without shoes must be like.

@TOMSshoes is also posting throughout the day. There should also be Facebook groups to join for the One Day Without Shoes experience in different areas in the country.
